Michael joins internationally-acclaimed tenor Juan Diego Flórez and Sinfonía por el Perú in their grand return to the Grand National Theater of Peru in Lima. As Principal Conductor of Sinfonía flagship ensemble, Michael prepares the orchestra for their upcoming tour to Salzburg, Lucerne, and Gstaad in August/September 2022.

"Michael Repper is a breakout star in the conducting world and will be lending his talents to the Ashland Symphony Orchestra as its next Conductor and Music Director.

Repper recently claimed a #1 spot on the Billboard Charts with an album produced with the New York Youth Symphony.

“What I see my role is as a conductor, it’s more than just providing and presenting concerts of the highest artistic caliber,” Repper said. “That’s a baseline, it’s where we try to start. Fundamentally, what we’re trying to do as musicians is bring people together and connect people by using music. My mission, my objective, in my concerts is to energize people towards that goal, to try and bring people together, to try and connect people, to try and make our communities a more diverse and welcoming place.”

ASHLAND — The Ashland Symphony Orchestra Board of Directors has accepted the Search Committee’s recommendation to hire Michael Repper as the new Music Director and Conductor of the Ashland Symphony Orchestra.

The organization made the announcement in a Thursday afternoon press release, but stated the term began on May 27.

“I couldn’t be prouder to join the Ashland Symphony as Music Director," Repper said. "From our first moments together in January, I felt a deep connection with the remarkable musicians and the dedicated board.

"Together I’m looking forward to continuing the Ashland Symphony’s tradition of energizing the city through great performances, and leading the Symphony in its next chapters by exploring new ventures and collaborations!”
